Uncompahgre River Description (by mountainsurf)

Uncompahgre River Description Details

Katie Cole (mountainsurf) described the Uncompahgre River, Colorado - The Uncompahre River has its beginnings high atop Red Mountain pass in the Beautiful San Juan Mountains. It becomes a trout fishery as it approaches the town of Ridgway on its way to the reservoir. The “Unc” is released from the Ridgway Dam and flows through Montrose on its way to the Gunnison River, and provides several public access fishing opportunities. The jewel of the river is at “Paco”, or Pa-co-chu-puk, the tail water fishery below the Ridgway Dam in the Ridgway State Park. Rainbows, Browns and Cutthroat trout. (09/13/12)
