Clark Fork (Lower) reports

Tim Wade (North Fork Anglers) reported - 1 - Excellent fly fishing: Clearing again. The trout will be looking up for dries. Caddis, hoppers, and stoneflies are best, but nymphs fished deep along the edges are still the best producers for the bigger browns, bows and cutts in the lower Clarks Fork. Mayfly and caddis action has been good on the lower river. If the trout won't heat a hopper pattern, try a parachute Adams, elk hair caddis or yellow humpy.

If fishing a dropper, make it at least 3' long behind your dry fly of choice. In heavy water, fish big, heavy halfbacks, Yuk Bugs, woolly buggers and Bitch Creeks deep for best results.

Tim Wade (North Fork Anglers) reported - 2 - Good fly fishing: Big water, but fishing better as flows drop daily. The trout are looking up for dries now (caddis and stoneflies) but nymphs fished deep along the edges are still the best producers for the bigger browns, bows and cutts in the Clarks Fork. Try BIG (size4,6) red Tarantulas, Stimulators, and Cat Pukes for dry flies. If fishing a dropper, make it at least 3' behind your dry fly of choice. Big, heavy halfbacks, Yuk Bugs, and Bitch Creeks are best for fishing deep.
