Emil Kadlec (emilbugger77)

Emil's profile summary

Nothing is more sacred to me than getting outdoors for a day and hitting one of the local streams. Fly fishing to me is not about catching the biggest fish but about the freedom and fun it brings. I may have been blessed with some opportunities to fish come waters with massive trout but fishing a stream that you can step across in pursuit of seven inch trout is just as rewarding. The worst of days fishing is about a thousand times better than a good day at work. I started fishing before I can remember but have just recently picked up fly fishing. I started fly fishing in my sophmore year of highschool. Since than I have been totally obsessed. Spending way to much time and money on tying and fishing equipment(maybe not enough!). Nothing is more rewarding than catching a fish on a fly you've tied and the rod you built.
State: New Mexico.
City: Albuquerque

Emil's reports

Emil Kadlec (emilbugger77) reported - 4 - Poor fly fishing on the Rio Guadalupe, New Mexico
I fished all day. It snowed all day, which was nice and fun but very cold. The river didn't have very much ice on it and the flow was pretty good. But I got skunked for the first time in a lond time (Which is fine). The good thing was I didn't see anyone on the river, might actually be a bad thing since it was snowing all day and I was on a closed road something goes wrong and I am a goner. Hopefully the fish survive the winter and are there this summer! (02/13/09)
Emil Kadlec (emilbugger77) reported - 1 - Excellent fly fishing on the Jemez River, New Mexico
Day started out perfect. I was the first one to the trail head. Fishing started slow but rapidly picked up. Caught around twenty average Jemez fish, 8 to 10 inches. Caught two larger fish at around 14inches. One brown and the other was a bow. These are two of the larger fish that I have caught in the area. The deep pools and below average fisherman allow for this part of the stream to hold some larger fish then other areas in the Jemez. I know no one else on the site probably fish this region but I like to write about this area because its a very difficult place to fish and it proves that there is more to fly fishing than catching monster fish! Although you wouldn't find me complaining about catching big fish. The Wading/stalking of this stream is super difficult due to the large boulders and steep incline. Slipped on a rock and smacked my shoulder pretty hard. So if you do go make sure to bring a buddy! Be super stealthy as the fish are really finicky due to the heavy traffic of the trail for the hot springs! (09/24/08)
